I know the crosover cable is good, I am useing it right now in windows to test it. The ifconfig statement I use on laptop is: ifconfig ep0 inet 192.168.0.1 netmask 255.255.255.0 up I have tried it without the "up" at the end also I just cant seem to ping from one system to the other. I know its not hardware, I am useing the SAME pcmcia NIC in my windows 98 laptop and pinging alpha just fine.......
