Maybe someone with CCNA exam experience can detail this more than I can
(I'm just a software developer, not a networking guy...)

It probably does not really matter which one if you are simply interested
in learning UNIX commands, programming languages, etc. To the majority of
users (non-admins), the interfaces are identical. So, for learning UNIX
commands, etc., just go with whichever one is readily available.

That being said, if you are more interested in the strict networking and
TCP/IP implemenations, FreeBSD is probably the better choice, since most
commercial Unix implementations use the same TCP/IP stack, as far as I am
aware. A lot of "big" web sites use FreeBSD for servers, due to better
network performance, etc.

Can someone else improve on this response? (Or, if interested, just flame
me?)

Chad
