I have a dual Pentium Pro 300Mhz m/b with PII-300Mhz processors (downshifted
to 266 for stability) that was exhibiting this same problem. I would reboot,
get 4-5 beeps and the machine would hang. Yet, if I power cycled the machine
it would boot up normally. I had a generic PCI video card on-board which I
swapped out for an AGP card (ATI All-in-Wonder) and now the machine no
longer exhibits this problem.
