Unfortenatly my brothers CDROM drive in his DOS/Windows box took a
dive and I have replaced it with the non-FreeBSD-NCR-functional
Chinnon 525S that I was having the problems with so I can no
longer test this change :-(.

Sorry, dead inventory often gets uses for spares when needed.
