For whatever it might be worth, we swapped out just about all of the 4-, 5-, & 8-port mini-hubs from engineers' desks and replaced them with the 5- & 8-port NetGear 10/100 switches (FS105 & FS108). I then replaced the odd assortment of hubs & switches with 24-port NetGear switches. The sole problem was in communicating with an old Black Box device that converts between 10base-T & fiber. I circumvented that by interposing one of the dumb 5-port mini-hubs between the Black Box device & the switch. :-{ I liked the results enough to deploy an FS108 at home.... :-) Of course, YMMV.
