Sure they do - atacontrol.  Check the ata and atacontrol man pages.

That too.  I've happily used -STABLE and -CURRENT with Promise onboard 
chips (PDC-20265 and PDC-20276, respectively equivalent to the Promise ATA- 
100 and ATA-133 cards).
