But on machines with small disk is dangerous dump memory into disk. It can destroy file system where the dump is done. Administrator can control device via dumpon program. Parameter "off" switch off dumping. In rc scripts are defined two ways NO and setting some device. Option which said crash dump is disabled is missing. >How-To-Repeat: Install FreeBSD on small disk (200MB) and provoke kernel panic. If variable $dumpdev is "NO" kernel dumps memory to any filesystem. On small disk it can destroy this filesystem. >Fix: Add following lines to /etc/rc: 389,391d388 < [Oo][Ff][Ff]) < /sbin/dumpon -v off < ;; If you want disable dumping set variable "dumpdev" to "OFF" in /etc/rc.conf or /etc/rc.conf.local: dumpdev="OFF" >Release-Note: >Audit-Trail: >Unformatted: To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-bugs" in the body of the message
