Correction: /bin/sh has a built-in echo command that understands the
'-e' flag.  What it doesn't have is a built-in 'which' command that
recognises the other shell built-ins...

    $ echo "line one\nline two"
    line one\nline two
    $ echo -e "line one\nline two"
    line one
    line two
