Multias are notoriously flaky.  Can you be more specific about what it 
said?

I'm running an AS200/166 with some sort of Diamond S3 ViRGE card & and
a number of machines (AS600 5/266, Miatas & XP1000s) with 3DLabs GLINT
Permedia 2's.  XFree86 works on both of these too.
