It is extremely unlikely to be used in the path names of ports. And IMHO most importantly: that's what is in use in hundreds of ports in CVS right now. In other words, with no compelling reason to change the convention, please don't change it. The fact that the shell you use expands :: to \:\: is not compelling. Cheers, -- Jacques A.
