I upgraded ports a few weeks ago, before bsd-canada (actually right before), and when gnome came up via gdm on my console.. no login window. Oh I can see the name of the machine, hit a button to get preferences (use on-screen keyboard etc).. but no login window. So I was heading for bsd-canada and thought.. gee I will worry about it later.. So now I spent some time.. by first: 1) Getting the latests ports (from Sunday). 2) removing every port. 3) Building world 4) installing world (and of course the 9.0 kernel too) (I am running amd64) 5) make install xorg/gnome2 etc. So I have just finished all that.. everything is squeaky new and clean.. And tada.. no login window ;-( I do see this in the greeter log: **************** gnome-session[1672]: WARNING: Could not launch application 'at-spi- registryd-wrapper.desktop': Unable to start application: Failed to execute child process "${exec_prefix}/libexec/at-spi-registryd" (No such file or directory) Window manager warning: Failed to read saved session file /usr/local/ etc/gdm/home/.config/metacity/sessions/ 103006751114b9dc6e127479189456898500000016720007.ms: Failed to open file '/usr/local/etc/gdm/home/.config/metacity/sessions/ 103006751114b9dc6e127479189456898500000016720007.ms': No such file or directory ** (process:1684): DEBUG: Greeter session pid=1684 display=:0.0 xauthority=/var/run/gdm/auth-for-gdm-rlGpxS/database (polkit-gnome-authentication-agent-1:1686): polkit-gnome-1-WARNING **: Unable to determine the session we are in: Remote Exception invoking org.freedesktop.ConsoleKit.Manager.GetSessionForUnixProcess() on /org/ freedesktop/ConsoleKit/Manager at name org.freedesktop.ConsoleKit: org.freedesktop.ConsoleKit.Manager.GeneralError: Unable to lookup session information for process '1686' org.freedesktop.ConsoleKit.Manager.GeneralError Unable%20to%20lookup %20session%20information%20for%20process%20%271686%27 gdm-simple-greeter[1684]: Gtk-WARNING: gtkwidget.c:5628: widget not within a GtkWindow Window manager warning: Buggy client sent a _NET_ACTIVE_WINDOW message with a timestamp of 0 for 0xe0002b (Login Wind) Window manager warning: meta_window_activate called by a pager with a 0 timestamp; the pager needs to be fixed. I am sure it must be some snarfed configuration I have but I am at a loss as to what it is.
