If they can hold the channel, and they >certainly can, then it's theirs to maintain as they see fit. Period. You have got to have THE most frustrating case of selective reading and quoting that exists. Perhaps your a politician. Do NOT misquote me. What I said was: " The way I view it is simple - the channel "belongs" to the chan-ops for as long as they (can) hold it. However, in this case the name of the channel is also the name of the product. The name doesn't belong to the chan-ops (unless someone actually associated with the project wants to correct me here? please?). So, if you're going to run a channel with a name of a product that apparently you support (otherwise why would you be on the advocacy mailing list to begin with?), they just think about the fact that your actions reflect on the product. Find a better way to "cure your problems" (see above). " There was, is, and shall be a "however" in my statement. Your cavalier "I'm right, you're wrong, get outta my face or I'll curse some more at you even though this is a family show" attitude makes the project look bad. Period. Quit being selective in your hearing. From some of the postings, your attitude and mantra are NOT held by all the ops on #freebsd - just some. And given that the FAQ states it's a "FreeBSD Forum", NOT a "Jeremiah Gowdy" forum, you should look past the end of your nose and what you think is best for YOU and instead what is best for the PROJECT. If the channel is NOT associated with the Project, get the FAQ changed. THAT is what I said.
