I'm having a lot of trouble with my FreeBSD box's network performance. It's connected to a pair of Win95 boxes by way of 10base2 Ethernet. The main symptom is that data coming out of the box dribbles along at pathetically low speeds (500kbps or less). Incoming data goes at a respectable pace (5Mbps) without apparent overruns or dropped data. I've checked the rest of the network and the Win95 machines for problems, and thus isolated the trouble to the FreeBSD system. The BSD box started out with a 3C509 card. Then I tried an old DE100 card, which didn't help. Then I installed a DE205, which is worse than nothing because it simply stops working completely within about 30 seconds of being brought up. There's no excess hardware, and no IRQ or I/O port conflicts with any of the cards I've tried. Any suggestions on what I can try next?
