I could not get ifconfig to recognize the BNC connector on my EtherLink III 3c589C PCMCIA card AT ALL!!! I tried the "media 10base2/bnc", which I was then told was not working on that device (zp0) so I also tried the link0 and link1 options. . . . but I did NOT try the "-link0 link1" option you have below . . . that did it!!! :-)) Apparently leaving out the "-" was a loser. :) Anywaym=, thanks very much for the help . . . inadvertant though it was. :) > ># 3Com Etherlink III 3C589D >card "3Com Corporation" "3C589D" > config 0x1 "ep0" 11 > insert echo 3Com Etherlink III inserted > # BNC: > insert /etc/pccard_ether ep0 -link0 link1 > # RJ-45: > # insert /etc/pccard_ether ep0 link0 -link1 > remove echo 3Com Etherlink III removed > remove /sbin/ifconfig ep0 delete > >Hope it helps you out. > > matthias >-- >firm: matthias.apitz@sisis.de [voc:+49 89 61308 351, fax: +49 89 61308 188] >priv: guru@thias.muc.de > WWW: http://www.sisis.de/~guru/ > >"We don't care.
