Greetings again, This may qualify as one of those Frequently Asked Questions, but since I haven't been able to find anything on it either in the FAQ or the Handbook on the FreeBSD web site, I figured I'd ask here. I have an APC BackUPS 600 that my FreeBSD box is attached to. Back in the dark days when I ran Linux, I had a program called genpowerd, which, along with a custom-made cable, would initiate an automatic shutdown of my system in the event of a power failure. This has saved me on more than one occasion. Unfortunately, as I suspected, said program does not compile under FreeBSD. I'm wondering if anyone knows of a similar daemon for FreeBSD that will work with this UPS. The cable isn't a problem -- I can easily obtain either the "smart" or "simple" signaling cable for this particular UPS model, or I can custom-make a different cable. Thanks in advance! ********************************************************************** * Bryce Newall * Email: data@dreamhaven.org * * WWW: http://home.dreamhaven.org/~data * * "Stop smirking, Number 1." -- J.L.
