One way forward is to create a PR (see https://bugs.freebsd.org/) with a
patch which makes the port working again.
As the port is currently deleted it does not have a maintainer (I guess)
so you can pick it up immediately probably.

As a reference this is the list of previous PRs about this port.
https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/buglist.cgi?bug_status=__open__&bug_status=__closed__&bug_status=New&bug_status=Open&bug_status=In%20Progress&bug_status=Closed&bug_status=UNCONFIRMED&f0=OP&f1=OP&f2=product&f3=component&f4=alias&f5=short_desc&f7=CP&f8=CP&j1=OR&list_id=264894&o2=substring&o3=substring&o4=substring&o5=substring&o6=substring&order=changeddate%20DESC%2Cbug_id&query_format=advanced&v2=webcalendar&v3=webcalendar&v4=webcalendar&v5=webcalendar&v6=webcalendar

Ronald.
