I hadn't installed any of those. I had upgraded several systems to do
docproj with the eps2png group of codes. What is in /usr/local/include
is a 1997 GNU getopt.h with a March 2000 date. About half of my
systems that I upgraded to kde-2.1 died in the install phase because
of this header file. I don't know what left it there. I did the
KDE-2.1 install and checked the directory at various times to see if
one of the dependancies was doing it but never saw it added. I thought
about deleting the else definition for getop but choose the more
drastic approach of renaming the header file.

What I don't remember at this point is if the kde make install would
proceed or if I had to make clean kdemultimedia2 first. The clean
definitely worked. I hit it the first time on a system that would
build both qt-2.2.4, and build and install kde-2 in a little under 3
hours, which wasn't painful. The slowest system, on the other hand,
required longer to clean and remake just kdemultimedia2.

In the middle of this, I updated my locate database with nothing
cleaned and I saw all of the other versions. I wanted to find what was
causing the problem but not that badly :).
