The problem is that fontconfig has "issues" with its caching.  It's
seeing a therapist, and the 2.2 release should hopefully address some of
these concerns.  However, it's always a good idea to run fc-cache -f
after adding or removing fonts.

There are also some fonts that can mess up Xft (such as mozilla-fonts).=20
It's best to stick with the standard X fonts, and TrueType fonts such as
those from Microsoft, Bitstream, Adobe, etc.
