after crushing aside the FreeBSD diskless stuff which I really
don't care for that much :-)....

but in running NIS, I amusingly have:

mjacob@slinx 2 -> id
uid=2994274304(mjacob) gid=1677721600 groups=1677721600, 100(engineering),
0(wheel), 3(sys)


which, err, um, doesn't really match with:

beppo.feral.com > id
uid=31154(mjacob) gid=100 groups=100, 0(wheel), 5(operator), 6(mail)


:-)


Not too bad an experience. I can get booted about one out of 5 efforts, which
isn't bad for where things are at right now.
