Rotate /var/wtmp. Or wait until the first of the month and it'll be 
rotated out automatically. Should only have to move the old one out of 
the way. I forget if a new one will be made when needed. In any case it 
doesn't hurt to create a new wtmp (with "touch"), then chown and chmod 
the same as the old one.

You didn't install 3.0 to clean (new) filesystems but rather installed
on top of your pre-3.0 system, right?
