Hello world :-) I am working with Linux FPGA toolchains on FreBSD. Well, I try to make it working :-) These are non-open-source and will not provide support for FreeBSD. Last time I have asked Xilinx it was over 10 years ago. Lattice support told me they will not release for FreeBSD. So I have to use Linux stuff. Xilinx has their installer weighting over 40GB, and after installation it is even bigger, a mix of Python Java and all sorts of stuff, dynaimc libraries and all dependencies included. Xilinx Vivado hangs at Java (11.0.2) loading GUI but nothing shows up except all my system resources are consumed. I have to use kill -9 to get rid of that guy. After several experiments with that Linuxlator (64-bit) I also noticed that MC (native FreeBSD's Midnight Commander) hangs on start. This does not happen before I start this Xilinx-Python-Java-Linux monster. I guess system runs out of some resource. There is a bit of free physical RAM and 20GB of swap. All CPU is consumed 100%. What other resources may have impact here? Any hints welcome :-) Tomek -- CeDeROM, SQ7MHZ, https://www.tomek.cedro.info
