Not sure if it's been answered yet, but lkm's have been depreciated in favor
of kld's.

phoenix.cl.msu.edu:ikhala> apropos kld
kld(4) - dynamic kernel linker facility
kldload(8)               - load a file into the kernel
kldstat(8)               - display status of dynamic kernel linker
kldunload(8)             - unload a file from the kernel
