I'm trying to set up a dnscache with the sole purpose to make resolving sites like doubleclick.net lock up my browsers, when FreeBSD is trying to resolve the IP. I've tried following the guidelines in but apparently I've missed something, which is a small wonder since I know very little about dns etc. My setup is fairly simple: ISP -> ADSL-modem -> Router -> FreeBSD-box I'm using DHCP to connect to my router. Now, my questions are these: 1) /etc/resolv.conf should say "nameserver 127.0.0.1" and nothing else? 2) Should my ISP's DNS' be added as forwarders in named.conf. If not, where should they be put then? 3) Since I'm only aiming for a dns-cache I'm right in assuming I should keep my hands away from all the zone-stuff? 4) Where is the cache written to?
