Unforunately, if you're using the correct driver, and the correct settings, there is nothing you can do about the static. You can, however, fix the mouse by adding: Option swcursor to the device section of the XFree86 configuration file. HTH Cliff Rowley P.S. If you are using the S3, get rid of it...
