This sounds strange to me. File reports that communicator-bsdi is "BSD/OS
i386 compact demand paged executable". AFAIK, "demand paged" != "staticly
linked". Also, ldd reports "not a dynamic executable" for anything it
can't recognize as an executable binary:

	% ldd /tmp
	ldd: /tmp: not a dynamic executable
