But it's in the standard so for now we are s= tuck with it. If your switch is of Cisco brand, here's what we do: switchport trunk native vlan 1001 1001 is a VLAN that is never used in our entire data centre, so everything = that matters is properly tagged. But for the dozens of other brands, not-so-much. = In this case, it's a ubiquity (or unifi ?) ... and aggressively positioned swi= tch as part of an ecosystem of WiFi and WISP gear. AFAICT, changing the access vlan removes communication with the management = lan alltogether. As I said, so far I'm using another ethernet card to talk to this. It's not an uncommon setup, I believe. FreeBSD should be that swiss army k= nife that just works in all situations, not the OS that prays to one particular = god of configuration or the other. --=20 You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.= From owner-freebsd-net@freebsd.org Mon Jun 3 15:56:04 2019 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-net@mailman.ysv.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2610:1c1:1:606c::19:1]) by mailman.ysv.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 2370B15B558A for ; Mon, 3 Jun 2019 15:56:04 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from ler@lerctr.org) Received: from thebighonker.lerctr.org (ns-b.lerctr.org [IPv6:2001:470:1f0f:3ad::53:2]) (using TLSv1.3 with cipher TLS_AES_256_GCM_SHA384 (256/256 bits) server-signature RSA-PSS (4096 bits) client-signature RSA-PSS (2048 bits) client-digest SHA256) (Client CN "*.lerctr.org", Issuer "Let's Encrypt Authority X3" (verified OK)) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTPS id 63C55877AD for ; Mon, 3 Jun 2019 15:56:03 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from ler@lerctr.org) DKIM-Signature: v=1; a=rsa-sha256; q=dns/txt; c=relaxed/relaxed; d=lerctr.org; s=ler2019; h=Message-ID:Subject:To:From:Date:Content-Transfer-Encoding: Content-Type:MIME-Version:Sender:Reply-To:Cc:Content-ID:Content-Description: Resent-Date:Resent-From:Resent-Sender:Resent-To:Resent-Cc:Resent-Message-ID: In-Reply-To:References:List-Id:List-Help:List-Unsubscribe:List-Subscribe: List-Post:List-Owner:List-Archive; bh=lEe+KECub1WDRmF0qzCxvdSyd/FxRLskL1OkrByZM5g=; b=mkXvvnPOLhfipyNXIjYsEZsROc HQQEN1sUoxarCGeCGOjSdoCcpeF56A+ARAmWbqi/sldhr8bFql9klvOUkxoCVJ7I+61tQEgvQKr/n cZ2xHIzC065OyosO14xrP/h29lj3I+PhiEIlLNruU+kpBUul6K9ioQxw44gHGG5vKvUEA1E799hOQ S4AoU+FZgr7SSX87EIFxXOdrt/wjun9+KPBnlbfzyhJsBFx9+GtY9qtg9uK7a77lS30/2LTpZ/50q 65BOOx2BpC5/YEpgMqmV1aixwBiiDfv3Awz57tKTnsm4qxwVxSFFxkf9JnH/5YlBJYPyvCKSp9p5s Jf9NG/qA==; Received: from thebighonker.lerctr.org ([2001:470:1f0f:3ad:bb:dcff:fe50:d900]:24161 helo=webmail.lerctr.org) by thebighonker.lerctr.org with esmtpsa (TLSv1.3:TLS_AES_256_GCM_SHA384:256) (Exim 4.92 (FreeBSD)) (envelope-from ) id 1hXpJZ-000ITP-72 for freebsd-net@freebsd.org; Mon, 03 Jun 2019 10:56:01 -0500 Received: from 2600:1700:210:b180:c89b:801e:ddd7:a6bb by webmail.lerctr.org with HTTP (HTTP/1.1 POST); Mon, 03 Jun 2019 10:56:01 -0500 MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=US-ASCII; format=flowed Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Date: Mon, 03 Jun 2019 10:56:01 -0500 From: Larry Rosenman To: Freebsd net Subject: SNMP/No Bufferspace Message-ID: X-Sender: ler@lerctr.org User-Agent: Roundcube Webmail/1.3.9 X-BeenThere: freebsd-net@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.29 Precedence: list List-Id: Networking and TCP/IP with FreeBSD List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Mon, 03 Jun 2019 15:56:04 -0000 I have a mrtg job that runs every 5 minutes on a FreeBSD-CURRENT box and gets this randomly: SNMP Error: send_query: No buffer space available SNMPv1_Session (remote host: "main-switch.lerctr.org" [192.168.200.224].161) community: "lerctr" request ID: 1517898706 PDU bufsize: 8000 bytes timeout: 2s retries: 5 backoff: 1) at /usr/local/lib/perl5/site_perl/SNMP_util.pm line 492. I prefer to max out interface FIFO length while using bce(4) by means of /boot/loader.conf when link is heavily utilized: # max = 8*255 = 2040 hw.bce.tx_pages=8 Also, check driver-level stats with sysctl dev.bce.0 If possible, check link partner - managed switch port counters or what does it have.
