Yes, that seems to be the best bet so far. When you have the result files, check them with an image viewer. Also keep in mind that magicrescue _can_ (and will) recover files that have been deleted intendedly, so prepare for duplicate files. (The script I wrote would deal with those special cases, too.) > By the way the reason why I think I initially had formatted > the usb device as Fat32 is that I used Disk Utility of Mac OS X > where the format is labelled as "MSDOS(FAT)" (the other windows > format is "exFAT"). Maybe I could be wrong .... No, that is fully correct. This setting will create a FAT-32 filesystem, which "Windows" can typically use (with the specific limitations of FAT and "Windows", of course). "ExFAT" is a proprietary extension of FAT aimed primarily at SSDs, USB sticks, and memory cards. Now, I believe I can help increase that portion of organic traffic significantly, at *freebsd.org .* I believe you would like to come top on searches for keywords related to: *freebsd.org *... I found a number of SEO issues such as broken links, page speed issue, HTML validation errors, images with no ALT text on your website, that's stopping you from getting that traffic. How about I fix those, and also promote you through engaging content on relevant places on the web (read, social media). I guarantee you will see a drastic change in your search ranking and traffic once these issues are fixed. Also, this is one time, so no paying Adwords every month. The jail works (iocage basejail with shared IP) and everything on my network can see the calibre server except my rooted Nook Simple which fails to connect with FBreader Calibre plugin or the browser (my phone has no trouble). Also and perhaps related ssh -Y into the jail X11 forwarding doesn't work complaining about wrong authentication. This all worked fine in 11.1, 10.3, 10.2 ... back to 9.3 IIRC. I recreated the jail just to be sure - same results. For now I'm running calibre directly on the host which works fine, but I'd like to put it back in jail. -- Steve O'Hara-Smith From owner-freebsd-questions@freebsd.org Tue Sep 18 20:16:45 2018 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-questions@mailman.ysv.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2610:1c1:1:606c::19:1]) by mailman.ysv.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id B6AF210A7D68 for ; Tue, 18 Sep 2018 20:16:45 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from petr.fischer@me.com) Received: from mr85p00im-hyfv06011401.me.com (mr85p00im-hyfv06011401.me.com [17.58.23.191]) (using TLSv1.2 with cipher ECDHE-RSA-AES128-GCM-SHA256 (128/128 bits)) (Client did not present a certificate) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTPS id 5A20581A98 for ; Tue, 18 Sep 2018 20:16:45 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from petr.fischer@me.com) Received: from process-dkim-sign-daemon.mr85p00im-hyfv06011401.me.com by mr85p00im-hyfv06011401.me.com (Oracle Communications Messaging Server 8.0.2.2.20180531 64bit (built May 31 2018)) id <0PF900H00PF9JB00@mr85p00im-hyfv06011401.me.com> for freebsd-questions@freebsd.org; Tue, 18 Sep 2018 20:16:44 +0000 (GMT) Received: from icloud.com ([127.0.0.1]) by mr85p00im-hyfv06011401.me.com (Oracle Communications Messaging Server 8.0.2.2.20180531 64bit (built May 31 2018)) with ESMTPSA id <0PF9008H0PNJU440@mr85p00im-hyfv06011401.me.com> for freebsd-questions@freebsd.org; Tue, 18 Sep 2018 20:16:33 +0000 (GMT) X-Proofpoint-Spam-Details: rule=notspam policy=default score=0 suspectscore=1 malwarescore=0 phishscore=0 bulkscore=0 spamscore=0 clxscore=1011 mlxscore=0 mlxlogscore=462 adultscore=0 classifier=spam adjust=0 reason=mlx scancount=1 engine=8.0.1-1807170000 definitions=main-1809180198 X-Proofpoint-Virus-Version: vendor=fsecure engine=2.50.10434:,, definitions=2018-09-18_08:,, signatures=0 Date: Tue, 18 Sep 2018 22:16:30 +0200 From: Petr Fischer To: freebsd-questions@freebsd.org Subject: suspend to RAM stopped working on 11.2 (11.1 was OK) Message-id: <20180918201630.gilrsfb5ah2jhqnf@pf-bsd> MIME-version: 1.0 Content-type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Content-disposition: inline User-Agent: NeoMutt/20180716 X-BeenThere: freebsd-questions@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.27 Precedence: list List-Id: User questions List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Tue, 18 Sep 2018 20:16:45 -0000 Hello, I need to investigate $subj - I can post some debug info, maybe compile test kernels etc. - which is the proper mailing list for this? I think the error means that you used all of you RAM and your swap space. If I am right, then you need to add either more RAM or more swap space (easiest would probably be to create a swap file), unless there is a bug in ports-mgmt/poudriere-devel (for example a memory allocation in an infinite = loop). I do not know about PQ_LAUNDRY (as I said, there is people much more skille= d than me), however I would suggest you to first exclude simpler solutions, if you have= not done it yet. The simplest solution is to consider the possibilty that your 4GB of RAM an= d 2GB of swap (if I have interpreted the data correctly) get full during your use of poud= riere: does that looks likely to you? If this is indeed the problem, then you should increase swap space. You can= do it by following these instructions: https://www.freebsd.org/doc/handbook/adding-swap-space.html If you are unsure that this is the problem, it might be better to first tes= t the solution by choosing to add swap through a swapfile (it is in the above documentatio= n link). Once tested, if this fixes your problem, then you might decide to use an ha= rd drive or a partion instead. Be prepared to have your system running slow: swap gives you more memory, b= ut reduces your computations speed. Lorenzo Salvadore. The sad truth is that 4G isn't enough to build some ports any more. Even using 8G I have a list of ports that I build one at a time to prevent them building at the same time and consuming everything, such as llvm*, gcc*, *webkit*, firefox, chromium In poudriere.conf you can set PARALLEL_JOBS=1 and ALLOW_MAKE_JOBS=no so that only one build task is run at a time, this might allow a single process to get enough ram to finish. There is an ALLOW_MAKE_JOBS_PACKAGES option but I think it should be the other way, letting us say only build these ports one at a time. -- FreeBSD - the place to B...Software Developing Shane Ambler From owner-freebsd-questions@freebsd.org Wed Sep 19 14:26:17 2018 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-questions@mailman.ysv.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2610:1c1:1:606c::19:1]) by mailman.ysv.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 0A42B109CBBC for ; Wed, 19 Sep 2018 14:26:17 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from phascolarctos@protonmail.ch) Received: from mail-40132.protonmail.ch (mail-40132.protonmail.ch [185.70.40.132]) (using TLSv1.2 with cipher ECDHE-RSA-AES256-GCM-SHA384 (256/256 bits)) (Client CN "*.protonmail.ch", Issuer "QuoVadis Global SSL ICA G2" (verified OK)) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTPS id 97D4782ACA for ; Wed, 19 Sep 2018 14:26:16 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from phascolarctos@protonmail.ch) Date: Wed, 19 Sep 2018 14:26:00 +0000 To: FreeBSD Questions From: Lorenzo Salvadore Reply-To: Lorenzo Salvadore Subject: Re: error message with poudriere Message-ID: In-Reply-To: <80c5b299-0a0d-c440-d321-10515d6b615b@ShaneWare.Biz> References: <20180919054924.00006e7f@aim.com> <20180919074745.000015d6@aim.com> <80c5b299-0a0d-c440-d321-10515d6b615b@ShaneWare.Biz> Feedback-ID: X6az_D2smWSR8MT5MHqXnWF0upxehDyHia7Id1cbayHNBUkRu3CIeusDsZHiivIIjmaKB1_OofpALrRUYjNz3w==:Ext:ProtonMail MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=UTF-8 Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable X-Spam-Status: No, score=-1.1 required=7.0 tests=ALL_TRUSTED,DKIM_SIGNED, DKIM_VALID,DKIM_VALID_AU,FREEMAIL_FROM autolearn=ham autolearn_force=no version=3.4.0 X-Spam-Checker-Version: SpamAssassin 3.4.0 (2014-02-07) on mail.protonmail.ch X-BeenThere: freebsd-questions@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.27 Precedence: list List-Id: User questions List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Wed, 19 Sep 2018 14:26:17 -0000 > The sad truth is that 4G isn't enough to build some ports any more. With these resources you may want to reduce poudriere to using one jail (thus diminishing parallel build to only one). If that doesn't help, you really need to add RAM. Adding swap will set you back in speed significantly. Actually, I already use only one jail, but I not= ice anyway that I have some parallel builds (one per cpu core I guess; I have two cpu cores and receive messages from a "red builder" and from a "green builder")= . I think that to have only one build at the time I should follow Shane Amble= r's instructions, however at the moment I do not feel the need for this: the on= ly long compilation time port with which I deal in poudriere is llvm (while I = need qt5-webengine and openoffice for regular use) and I have my little trick fo= r that.
