Just a minor note, the field to check is "refer", for example on one of
my systems:

$ zfs list zroot/usr
NAME        USED  AVAIL  REFER  MOUNTPOINT
zroot/usr  8.34G   404G    96K  /usr

E.g. all file systems *under* /usr together use 8.34G, but /usr itself
only refers to 96K.
