I changed the password for the samba login by using smbpasswd -a . I =
also made sure that I logged into the windows box using the same user =
name that I have on the BSD box that I changed the password for. So im =
using the same user name for both windows and BSD and the same password =
as well. You mentioned in the samba config that you have to add the user =
names in there and I did not see a place to do that. Is there any way =
you can give me a cut and paste of that config example ? I am also using =
Client for Microsoft Networks when I log in.

   Thanks,

     Mike F.

dude....samba as far as looging in on your windoze box...works just like =
Microsoft Networks...you assign user names and shared directories in the =
samba config....the way you log in..on the client windows box is the =
"Client for Microsoft Networks" login...heres how mine is setup..
i have 4 users...all are specified in samba ....you have actually add =
the users as accounts on the unix box ..either thru /stand/sysinstall =
...or adduser....
also set your client windoze machines to use "client for microsoft =
networks" when you boot the win box up...itll ask for you network =
login...use one of the accounts specified on the unix box and samba...at =
his point you should be able to view at least the machines on the =
network and the samba server...the only other thing to do is setup the =
permissions on the directories...so that each user can access his or her =
folder.

First off I would just like to say you guys ROCK !!!!! I really =
apprecaite the help. I am also happy to say it looks like I am almost =
there. After
clearing up some space in /var and trying to re run Samba. >From the=20
Windows PC you can now view my Samba server :) The only problem is it =
is giving me password errors when trrying to log in. I have tried using =
every password I have to no avail. After looking back over the samba =
config I do not see any place to add a password. The one thing
I can figure that may be a problem is that im on Win 98 and and the =
password encryption is set to yes. But im stumped. Any advice would be =
great. One more thing to auto start Samba at boot what would I have to =
do ??

     Thanks again,

      Mike F.
