I have no problem with this.  I'm even on record in the past as saying
that the "contributors" list is simply too large, and to lump folks
like Peter Wemm in with Charles Hannum is only an indictment of the
current layout.

However, I'm also a little wary of splitting this up to the point of
being a little silly sounding.  We, the founders, know who we are and
it's not like there are dozens of us requiring recognition!  More
importantly, down this slippery lies, in my mind at least, an endless
procession of catagories: "Friends", "hackers", "writers", "spiritual
advisers", "groupies", "white-bearded gurus", etc..  I wouldn't want
us to become figures of fun in the operating systems' world here! :-)

Can we toss around some other proposals before we start making changes?

Your fundamental idea has merit, don't get me wrong, but I'd rather pick
3 strong categories than 6 weak ones..
