FreeBSD docs are written in a markup language called DocBook (they used
to be written in LinuxDoc.)  DocBook indicates what the text of the
document *is* rather then how it should look.  See the FreeBSD
Documentation Project Primer for more info:

PNG for screenshots and the like.  EPS for vector drawings (hopefully
we'll eventualy switch to SVG.)  I supposed JPG would be of for real
photos.
