It makes it bigger and it makes a GPL'ed component (the Linux shared
libraries) part of the default -- and that's a bad thing.

If you choose to install the Linux compatability from the CDROM (or
via FTP), you effectively do what you are asking about anyway.

Is there a reason you can't just pick one menu item while you are
installing?  8-).
