It sounds like sysinstall mounted the new slice for you, and hasn't recorded it in /etc/fstab (sysinstall is probably doing the right thing here). You need to put an entry for the new filesystem in /etc/fstab. See the fstab(5) man page for information about the format (although it should be fairly self-explanatory from the existing entries). Make sure you make a copy before editing it, in case you make a mistake.
