I cvsuped and built last night after jhb's checkins.  I get quite a few
warnings now about something trying to allocate a zero-length buffer.
Also, soft power off no longer works.  The OS shutdown happens, but it
no longer powers off the machine.  This is with a Dell 8200 laptop.
