A follow- up question is that how we deal with the existing Python modules with binaries in the CentOS 7 repos. Do we encourage to create an all-in-one port to install them all, or add them when requested? Thanks. -- Zhihao Yuan, ID lichray The best way to predict the future is to invent it. _______________________________________________ From owner-freebsd-emulation@freebsd.org Sat Nov 11 16:14:02 2017 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-emulation@mailman.ysv.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:1900:2254:206a::19:1]) by mailman.ysv.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id E3260E6E553 for ; Sat, 11 Nov 2017 16:14:02 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from tijl@freebsd.org) Received: from mailrelay105.isp.belgacom.be (mailrelay105.isp.belgacom.be [195.238.20.132]) (using TLSv1.2 with cipher ECDHE-RSA-AES256-GCM-SHA384 (256/256 bits)) (Client CN "relay.skynet.be", Issuer "GlobalSign Organization Validation CA - SHA256 - G2" (verified OK)) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTPS id 167AE6577B for ; Sat, 11 Nov 2017 16:14:01 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from tijl@freebsd.org) X-Belgacom-Dynamic: yes IronPort-PHdr: =?us-ascii?q?9a23=3ADAvKuBzyhP1tdtzXCy+O+j09IxM/srCxBDY+r6Qd?= =?us-ascii?q?1OIQIJqq85mqBkHD//Il1AaPBtSLraocw8Pt8InYEVQa5piAtH1QOLdtbDQizf?= =?us-ascii?q?ssogo7HcSeAlf6JvO5JwYzHcBFSUM3tyrjaRsdF8nxfUDdrWOv5jAOBBr/KRB1?= =?us-ascii?q?JuPoEYLOksi7ze6/9pnQbglSmDaxfa55IQmrownWqsQYm5ZpJLwryhvOrHtIeu?= =?us-ascii?q?BWyn1tKFmOgRvy5dq+8YB6/ShItP0v68BPUaPhf6QlVrNYFygpM3o05MLwqxbO?= =?us-ascii?q?SxaE62YGXWUXlhpIBBXF7A3/U5zsvCb2qvZx1S+HNsDtU7s6RSqt4LtqSB/wiS?= =?us-ascii?q?cIKTg58H3MisdtiK5XuQ+tqwBjz4LRZoyeKfhwcb7Hfd4CS2RPXthfWTFCDIy+?= =?us-ascii?q?YYsAAPYOM+lDoonhpVYCsQeyCRWwCO/xzDJDm3/43bc90+QkCQzIwg0gH9AKsH?= =?us-ascii?q?/Jstj1M6ASUfurw6nN1zrDaehW0ir65YjUcxAho/WMUKlwf8rL10YgCR7IgEie?= =?us-ascii?q?p4D/ODOVzOsNvnGd4uF9W+yvjGsnpBtwojip3soshJPJiZwLxV/f7iV23Zw5Jd?= =?us-ascii?q?qiSE50Z9OvDZhetzmCOoZ1X88uWX9ktSk6x7EcpJK2fycHxI4nyhLBbfGMbpKG?= =?us-ascii?q?7Qj5VOmLJDd1nHdleLWiiBms6UWg0ej8VtWs0FZNsypFjsHAtnAT2BzX7ciKUv?= =?us-ascii?q?h98V2l2TaO0gDc9PtEIUcumarHKp4hwLowmoAPvkTEGS/2g1v5jKqMeUUi4eik?= =?us-ascii?q?8ePnYq/pppOENo90jB/xMrg2l8G8HOg0KBYCUmeb9OimybHu/kL0TK9Kg/Eoiq?= =?us-ascii?q?XZtYrVJcUfpq63GQ9V1YMj5g6jDzen0tQYmWIKLFxfeB2ZkYfmIErOL+3iAfe4?= =?us-ascii?q?mVSsny9nx+raMb35HpXNMn/Dna/gfLd98ENczQszwspD55JTELENOvTzVVHttI?= =?us-ascii?q?+QMhhsAQy1w+/gQORg34VWDXCeKqqYOb/VqxmO6/55cMeWY4pAhDf/L7AO4Pn1?= =?us-ascii?q?gHown0RVKbWo358/Rmq1E95dDwOee3W60YRJKnsDogdrFL+is1aFSzMGIi/qB6?= =?us-ascii?q?8=3D?= X-IronPort-Anti-Spam-Filtered: true X-IronPort-Anti-Spam-Result: =?us-ascii?q?A2CXCADZIAda/zS49VFcGwEBAQEDAQEBC?= =?us-ascii?q?QEBAYM1VBBuJ48RjjYBAYF8NAGYLC2BXoMwBAQCAoRFRBQBAQEBAQEBAQEBaii?= =?us-ascii?q?COCQBgkIBBTocIxALDgoJJQ8qHgYTiiYMrG+LDAEBAQEBAQEDAQEBAQEBHQWDN?= =?us-ascii?q?Ihvg0SHSwWiKodrjQyBAIEJGYYIiVSBUYxoinU2IYFyVTIIgy2EYEA2AYoQAQE?= =?us-ascii?q?B?= X-IPAS-Result: =?us-ascii?q?A2CXCADZIAda/zS49VFcGwEBAQEDAQEBCQEBAYM1VBBuJ48?= =?us-ascii?q?RjjYBAYF8NAGYLC2BXoMwBAQCAoRFRBQBAQEBAQEBAQEBaiiCOCQBgkIBBTocI?= =?us-ascii?q?xALDgoJJQ8qHgYTiiYMrG+LDAEBAQEBAQEDAQEBAQEBHQWDNIhvg0SHSwWiKod?= =?us-ascii?q?rjQyBAIEJGYYIiVSBUYxoinU2IYFyVTIIgy2EYEA2AYoQAQEB?= Received: from 52.184-245-81.adsl-dyn.isp.belgacom.be (HELO kalimero.tijl.coosemans.org) ([81.245.184.52]) by relay.skynet.be with ESMTP; 11 Nov 2017 17:12:48 +0100 Received: from kalimero.tijl.coosemans.org (kalimero.tijl.coosemans.org [127.0.0.1]) by kalimero.tijl.coosemans.org (8.15.2/8.15.2) with ESMTP id vABGClMh003454; Sat, 11 Nov 2017 17:12:48 +0100 (CET) (envelope-from tijl@FreeBSD.org) Date: Sat, 11 Nov 2017 17:12:47 +0100 From: Tijl Coosemans To: Zhihao Yuan Cc: freebsd-emulation@freebsd.org Subject: Re: Adding Python 2.7 to linux-c7 Message-ID: <20171111171247.5ed81813@kalimero.tijl.coosemans.org> In-Reply-To: References: MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=US-ASCII Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit X-BeenThere: freebsd-emulation@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.23 Precedence: list List-Id: Development of Emulators of other operating systems List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Sat, 11 Nov 2017 16:14:03 -0000 On Sat, 11 Nov 2017 08:25:03 -0600 Zhihao Yuan wrote: > Hi, linuxulator folks, > > Please review lang/linux-c7-python > > https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=223579 > > The motivation is that some Python software ship Linux- > specific binaries, and we want to enable the uses. I could try to ship on https://conda.io/docs/index.html but still, pypi is a much easier platform to approach for the users. Since Python added manylinux1 abi support to wheels, I suspect that it may be popular to ship Linux-specific binaries -- unless we propose a freebsd abi to PEP? And I don't think this is a *big* decision... All we need are just Python modules with Linux binaries, we are not asking for packaging everything starting from setuptools! -- Zhihao Yuan, ID lichray The best way to predict the future is to invent it. _______________________________________________
