this is pretty annoying: the freebsd.org mailserver
rejects my attempts to send to the mailing list with
the following message:

<freebsd-questions@FreeBSD.ORG>:
 216.136.204.18 does not like recipient.
Remote host said: 554 <mx1.ny.otec.com[209.3.117.5]>:
Client host rejected:
Access denied
Giving up on 216.136.204.18.

this mailserver 209.3.117.5 doesn't appear in the RBL
(or any of the other blackhole lists, to my
knowledge), and does have valid dns:

[dkelley@mx1]$ dig mx1.ny.otec.com

; <<>> DiG 8.1 <<>> mx1.ny.otec.com
;; res options: init recurs defnam dnsrch

[dkelley@mx1]$ nslookup 209.3.117.5

Address: 64.209.222.102

Name: mx1.ny.otec.com
Address: 209.3.117.5

so why would my messages to the list be rejected?

thanks-

dan
