Hi all, I was able to get Xfree86 4.1 setup with KDE as the winmanager as root. I start the x server using the startx command. Unfortunately, none of the users can start the x server because of permission problems. I.e., the XFree86.0.log looks like: XFree86 Version 4.1.0 / X Window System (protocol Version 11, revision 0, vendor release 6510) Release Date: 2 June 2001 If the server is older than 6-12 months, or if your card is newer than the above date, look for a newer version before reporting problems. This can be found in the log file "/var/log/XFree86.0.log". Please report problems to xfree86@xfree86.org. I realize that the issue is described above, but I don't know what to do to solve the permissions problem so that I don't open up a huge security hole.
