hi, i just successfully compiled jdk 1.4.2p7, using gcc 3.4.2. i also created a link to libjavaplugin_oji.so in /usr/X11R6/lib/firefox/plugins. when i fired up the browser and went over to a site that requires the java plugin, firefox (packaged install) crashes and i am left with the following message: >>>> START OF ERROR MESSAGE INTERNAL ERROR on Browser End: Exec of "java_vm" failed:2 < System error?:: No such file or directory ** (Gecko:3825): WARNING **: Serious fd usage error 16 ** (Gecko:3825): WARNING **: Serious fd usage error 14 INTERNAL ERROR on Browser end: Could not read ack from child process System error?:: Resource temporarily unavailable >>>> END OF ERROR MESSAGE i also tried copying libjavaplugin_oji.so in the firefox plugins directory, with the same results. as i am just a few days old with FreeBSD, any suggestion pointing to a solution would be appreciated. on a side note, i'm using xfce4 (packaged install) and discovered that whenever i compile java on it, it results in a segmentation fault error. when i recompiled java in the console command-line, java compiled properly. thanks in advance! simplicity is the ultimate sophistication -- da vinci Send instant messages to your online friends http://uk.messenger.yahoo.com
