I have been having a problem with our DNS/SMTP server. This began about two weeks ago and the only signs I can find of it are the following: Apr 17 22:03:39 smtp2 /kernel: pid 59947 (named), uid 0: exited on signal 11 (core dumped) On one occasion it was signal 5. After this the machine - which stupidly only had one name server in resolv.conf - was unable to verify me for subsequent login via SSH2 and, more importantly, could not relay outgoing mail. I append three extracts from /var/log/messages. Does anyone have any suggestions about why this might happen please?
