System, ports, documentation of all three. Produce a steady stream of high quality, well prepared PRs fixing bugs or proposing enhancements. Make a real contribution to the project. Eventually the other FreeBSD committers will get tired of having to commit all your changes to the CVS repository for you, and punish you by giving you a commit bit, and the @FreeBSD.org address that goes with it.
