I am getting a hopeless ^H when I try and backspace in X.

I get get rid of it ny typing "stty erase ^H" but
I don't want to have to do this every session.

I have tried putting that "stty erase ^H" command in .xinitrc
with no result and even put it in .profile

I don't even know why this started happening.

Any ideas?
