I find myself just deleting messages containing what I consider too many abbreviations, and my tolerance is low. I used to be a pretty high-volume USENET reader and poster back in the late 80's ... but I don't recall seeing abbreviations in such multitudes then (and I don't think I subscribed to your more literate newsgroups either). Once I found myself searching the web to find out what IIRC could possibly mean. It's "if I recall correctly". If I recall correctly? As far as I know? In my (humble) opinion? Everyone: merely saying X implies that X is your opinion or comes from your nonperfect memory.
