The file date and size are not altered.

I have not been able to do that. ¿Hacking attempt?

Overwrite /etc/services with a known-good backup copy and reboot.
Maybe there is no need to reboot, if you know how to make the system
read again the good /etc/services. I am no Unix expert, sorry.
