Uh, please back this out.

This was NOT the trust of that discussion on the arch@ list.  The topic
was what to do about the Ports bits in etc/defaults/make.conf -- and that
is the only thing a semi-consensis was made.[*]  You never at all made it
clear you were also wanting to move etc/defaults/make.conf.
