hi,

I have a freebsd 3.4 machine. with a sb 16 pci sound card and a
hauppauge wintv-go video capture card ( also pci ) . I have the sound card
working in most conditions. i.e i can play files stored on my machine ( mp3
, real audio etc ).

the problem is that i still have not been able to listen to anything
coming from the outside.
*) i cant listen to any real audio from the net.
*) i cant listen the sound of a video fed into the video capture card.
*) i cant transmit or listen to audio through vat.

is there anything important that i am missing?

I have the following lines in my kernel config file.
** sound ***

device pcm0 at pci? port ? tty irq 10 drq 1 flags 0x0 vector pcmintr
device sbxvi0 at pci? drq 5

** video capture **
device bktr0 at pci? port ? tty irq 5 drq 1 vector pcmintr
controller iicbus0
controller iicbb0
controller smbus0

*********

it seems we have to add a

 pseudo-device vat_audio

to the kernel config , in order to get vat running. but it says that the
pseudo device is unknown. i have also MAKEDEV ed vat.

I have been struggling with this since a few days. can somebody please
help me out with this.

here is my dmesg output.

There seems to be an irq conflict between NIC and wintv card. how do i
get rid of this.

I HAVE NOT SUBSCRIBED TO THE LIST , SO KINDLY REPLY TO THE ABOVE ADDRESS.

THANKS IN ADVANCE.
