I think you have a misunderstanding. GNU's not UNIX! GNU is an
organization that supports freely available software. GNU's biggest claim
to fame is the GNU public license. Any software that is released under GNU
public license is sometimes called (improperly) "GNU Software."

GNU is not Linux. Linux is not GNU. In the strictest terms, the two have
_nothing_ to do with each other.

If I had to guess, I would say that _ALL_ GNU software has already been
ported to FreeBSD.

FreeBSD includes large amounts of GNU software. Bash, gcc, autoconf, to
name a few. Much software that comes with FreeBSD is under GNU public
license.

In a nutshell, you can have your GNU and FreeBSD too.
