Gack. And I thought turning Linux into Windows was bad. At least
Windows doesn't pretend to be Unix.

Anyway, since you're new to the Unix world, I'd suggest going with
what your friend suggested - *if* he's willing to help you with
it. Free local support is a good thing to have.
