# populate /var
/usr/sbin/mtree -deU -f /etc/mtree/BSD.var.dist -p /var
# add sendmail bits
/usr/sbin/mtree -deU -f /etc/mtree/BSD.sendmail.dist -p /
# create new syslog files
/usr/sbin/newsyslog -CC
# add a lastlog file
/usr/bin/touch /var/log/lastlog
