When using sysinstall or pkg_add -r to install the screen-3.9.11_1 port, the binary that is installed, when run, causes the CPU for the "screen" process to peg itself at 100%.

When installing the system from CD, select the "screen-3.9.11_1" package and install (sysinstall)

#pkg_add -r screen

cd /usr/ports/misc/screen; make clean; make install
