I've seen similar threads to this come through this list now and then.
While I've never personally acheived single files having a size larger
than 2gigs, I am told it is not a problem under FreeBSD. If I remember
correctly, it's because FreeBSD uses a 64bit filesystem, whereas Linux
uses a 32bit system.
